Adjustable Tension Rod

The security tips we will give you are not to set up the adjustable tension rods. These do not need special instructions, all you do is stretch them and secure the tightening screw at the end of the retractable rod and they are all set. No need to measure anything or calculate anything just stretch it tight and lock it in place.

The tips we will give you are for using the rods for security purposes. You will need two rods and a two foot wide piece of cloth which has the groove or the rings to attach it to the rods. You have a toddler walking around the house and you have no way to contain him, your apartment is small and there is not enough space for a pen where you can keep him so he is loose.
 
All you have to do to be able to keep him in a room and still be able to watch him from the doorway is to place the cloth in the doorway attached with the two rods. Attach the bottom one first to the door frame and then stretch the cloth upwards until it is properly stretched and set the second rod. Your child will be contained, you will be able to look at him over the clothed rods and he will not be able to escape either.

The same system can be used when you have stairs in your apartment or house, if you are renting most landlords will not allow you to attach a child proof door to the stair frames because holes have to be drilled and set to make the door secure. Use the same procedure as with the door, set the two rods, one above the other between the stair frame and the wall on the side. Tighten the rod and screw the lock into position, the rubber supports on the rod’s tips will not allow them to slip even on the wood or metal frame of the stairs.

Remember these are not necessarily to keep your child in a room but they can also be used to keep him out of a room too. It doesn’t have to be a child either, it could be a puppy or a growing dog, we are talking about a small or medium size dog, not even you or I can stop a grown dog from going where ever he wants to go.
 
Another option you have is to use them to block a certain part of a window without closing it completely. These are often used in houses situated in small towns that were located by the sidewalks where people walked by their windows. These small curtains were used to stop people from looking into the room from the street but allowing the breeze and light to come in over the small curtain.

Many options, including those of regular curtain holders are possible with the adjustable tension rod. You must improvise when in need for solutions; the fact that these are self supported can give you many ideas and help you in many ways.
